PEN 3- Chuck Bearce

Chuck was my High School Shop Teacher.  The more I thought about High School and the people that have had and influence on my life the more I thought about Chuck.  It wasn't about fixing cars.  It was about fixing everything in life.  He believed in all of us.  There was no project that we brought in that run better when it left the shop.

My guess is that most of us still change our own oil, rotate our own tires and most of our kids know how to do the same.  We most likely have huge tool boxes with old tools in them and know how to use most of them.

Chuck taught me how to live.  He taught me how to paint a car, rebuild an engine, and ask out the prettiest girl in the school.  With out him I don't think that later in life I would have had the guts to propose to my wife.

This wood reminded me of Chuck because it had the look of Oil as it drained out of an oil pan.  Something I hope you have all seen.  Something all my girls have seen thanks to Chuck.

This pens for you Chuck.

  1. It is amazing how Chuck taught you, and you taught your kids and they will teach their kids...on and on. Dave - I LOVE how you pick the colors of the pens. It is so much more meaningful that each pen has a story that is so connected to the person and means something to you. I LOVE your project...SOOO cool!!
